Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • ½ cup finely chopped green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 30 round dumpling wrappers
  • Water for sealing dumplings
  • Vegetable oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, cabbage, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. To assemble the dumplings, place a spoonful of the pork mixture onto the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half, pressing the edges to seal. Pleat the edges if desired. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

  3. To cook the dumplings, you can either steam them or pan-fry them.

  4. – To steam: Arrange the filled dumplings on a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam over high heat for about 12-15 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.

  5. – To pan-fry: Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Add water to the skillet, cover, and cook for another 5-6 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through and the water has evaporated. Remove the cover and continue cooking for 1-2 minutes until the bottoms are crispy.

  6. Serve the Chinese pork dumplings hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
