How To Make Asparagus Tempura

Deep-fry some delectable asparagus with this easy tempura recipe! It comes with a crunchy tempura mix for a more flavorful deep-fried veggie.

Ingredients

  • vegetable oilfor frying
  • 1cuptempura mixsuch as Kikkoman®
  • ¾waterice-cold
  • 1lbasparagus
  • 2tspsea salt

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 to 2-inches of oil in a saucepan or deep fryer over medium-high heat.

  2. Stir the tempura mix and water together to make a loose batter.

  3. Cut the tough ends from the bottom of the asparagus spears.

  4. Dip the asparagus into the batter, making sure the spears are evenly coated.

  5. Carefully add 5 to 6 asparagus spears to the hot oil.

  6. Fry for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until they float to the top.

  7. Drain on paper towels, then season with sea salt.

  8. Repeat with remaining asparagus.

  9. Serve, and enjoy!
