Ingredients

  • 4 sausages
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the sausages over medium heat. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, sauté the onions and garlic until they are soft and translucent.

  3. Add the apples and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. Pour in the apple cider and chicken broth and bring to a simmer.

  5. Return the sausages to the skillet and let them braise in the liquid for about 20 minutes, or until cooked through.

  6. Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in boiling salted water until tender. Drain and return to the pot.

  7. Mash the potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.

  8. Stir in the heavy cream into the sausage and apple mixture and let it simmer for a few more minutes until thickened.

  9. Serve the creamy cider and sausage braise over a bed of mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped parsley.
