  • 4 matzo sheets
  • 4 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

  2. Break matzo sheets into small pieces and place in a bowl. Pour hot water over matzo and let sit for 5 minutes. Drain well.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine matzo, apples, raisins, walnuts, sugar, melted butter, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well to combine.

  4. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
