Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Smoking chips (choose your preferred flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill or oven to 400°F (200°C). If using a grill, prepare it for indirect heat.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, bread crumbs, cheddar cheese, onion, parsley, milk, egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  3. Shape the mixture into small nugget shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. Place the smoking chips in a foil packet or smoking box, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

  5. If grilling, place the foil packet or smoking box directly on the coals or on the grill grates over indirect heat. If using an oven, place the foil packet or smoking box on the bottom rack.

  6. Put the baking sheet with the turkey nuggets on the top rack of the grill or in the oven. Close the lid if using a grill.

  7. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the turkey nuggets are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). The smoking chips will infuse a smoky flavor into the nuggets.

  8. Remove the turkey nuggets from the grill or oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
