How To Make Sumac-spiced Lamb Pides

Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp sumac
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 4 pita breads
  • Tzatziki sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground lamb over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.

  4. Stir in the sumac, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  5. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

  6. Place the pita breads on a baking sheet and spread a thin layer of the lamb mixture onto each bread.

  7. Top with the halved cherry tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted and slightly golden.

  9. Serve the Sumac-spiced Lamb Pides hot, topped with tzatziki sauce.
