How To Make Anise and Gingerbread Cookies

These flavorful cookies are a perfect blend of anise and gingerbread.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground anise
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, ginger, and anise.

  3. Using an electric mixer, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add molasses and egg, and beat until well combined.

  4. Gradually add dry ingredients and beat until just combined.

  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop out dough and roll into balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are firm and lightly browned.

  7. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
