How To Make Vegetarian Low Carb Portobello Mushroom Burger Recipe

A delicious and healthy vegetarian burger made with portobello mushrooms that is low in carbs and high in flavor.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 large portobello mushrooms, stems removed
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of pepper jack cheese
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium high heat.

  2. Brush the mushroom caps with olive oil and season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

  3. Grill mushrooms, gill side down, for 5-7 minutes.

  4. Flip mushrooms and place a slice of cheese on each. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and mushrooms are tender.

  5. Assemble the burger by placing lettuce, tomato slice, and mushroom on the bottom of the bun. Add any additional condiments or toppings of your choice. Cover with top bun and serve.
