How To Make Rye Sourdough Starter

Ingredients
- 1 cup rye flour
- 1 cup lukewarm water
Instructions

In a clean glass jar, combine rye flour and lukewarm water.

Stir well until all the flour is hydrated.

Cover the jar with a clean kitchen towel or coffee filter and secure with a rubber band.

Allow the mixture to ferment at room temperature for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, discard half of the starter and feed it with equal parts rye flour and lukewarm water (1/2 cup of each).

Mix well, cover, and allow it to ferment for another 24 hours.

Repeat the feeding process every 24 hours for 5 to 7 days, or until the starter is active and bubbly.

Your rye sourdough starter is now ready to be used in your favorite rye bread recipe.
