How To Make Sourdough Rye Bread Recipe

Freshly baked rye bread with a tangy sourdough flavor; perfect for sandwiches or as a side.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rye flour
  • 1 cup of bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup of warm water

Instructions

  1. Mix rye flour, bread flour, and salt in a large bowl.

  2. Add sourdough starter and water, then mix well until dough is formed.

  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes.

  4. Place dough in a greased bowl and let it rise until it has doubled in size.

  5. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  6. Shape dough into a ball and place onto a baking sheet.

  7. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 375°F and bake for another 50-60 minutes.

  8. Let bread cool before slicing and serving.
