How To Make Poutine

Who says vegetarians don’t get to enjoy savory meals? A taste of these authentic vegetarian recipes will make you change your mind. So, you just might want to go vegetarian after your first bite.

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1 cup cheese curds
  • 2 cups beef or chicken gravy
  • Salt, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Place the cut potatoes in a bowl and cover with cold water. Let them soak for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

  3. In a separate pot, heat the gravy over medium heat until hot.

  4. To assemble, arrange a layer of fries on a serving plate. Sprinkle cheese curds evenly over the fries. Pour hot gravy over the cheese curds, allowing it to melt slightly.

  5. Repeat the layers until all the fries, cheese curds, and gravy are used. Serve immediately.
