How To Make Porridge Bread

Who says vegetarians don’t get to enjoy savory meals? A taste of these authentic vegetarian recipes will make you change your mind. So, you just might want to go vegetarian after your first bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups porridge oats
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the porridge oats, bread flour, salt, and baking powder.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the honey (or maple syrup), warm water, and vegetable oil.

  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  5. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  7. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Slice and serve.
