How To Make Boondi Laddu
Boondi Laddu is a popular Indian sweet made from boondi balls, soaked in sugar syrup and garnished with nuts.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- Ghee or oil for frying
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron strands
- Chopped nuts for garnish (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
Instructions
-
In a mixing bowl, combine besan, water, and baking soda to make a smooth batter.
-
Heat ghee or oil in a deep frying pan. Drop small amounts of the batter into the hot oil using a perforated spoon to make boondis.
-
Fry the boondis until they turn golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
-
In a separate pan, heat 1/2 cup water and add sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture reaches a one-string consistency.
-
Add cardamom powder and saffron strands to the sugar syrup.
-
Add the fried boondis to the sugar syrup and mix well until the boondis are evenly coated.
-
Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into laddus using your hands.
-
Garnish the laddus with chopped nuts.
-
Let the laddus cool completely before serving.
