How To Make Ham Croquetas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens into a smooth paste.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in the diced ham. Allow the mixture to cool.

  4. Once cooled, shape the mixture into small cylinders or balls.

  5. Roll each croqueta in bread crumbs, making sure they are coated evenly.

  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot. Fry the croquetas in batches until golden brown and crispy.

  7. Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  8. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack.
