Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of white rice
  • 4 cups of whole milk
  • 1/3 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Optional toppings: raisins, cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the rice, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45-50 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened, stirring occasionally.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.

  5. Serve the rice pudding warm or chilled. Optional: Top with raisins and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before serving.
