- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 pie crusts
Instructions
-
In a large skillet, cook the ground pork and beef over medium heat until browned.
-
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
-
Add the water, salt, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, thyme, and sage to the skillet. Stir well to combine and simmer for 10 minutes.
-
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the breadcrumbs until well incorporated.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Line a pie dish with one of the pie crusts. Spoon the meat mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
-
Place the second pie crust on top of the meat mixture and crimp the edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
-
Bake the Tourtière in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
-
Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm.
