Cooking: 1 hour
Total: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 pie crusts

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground pork and beef over medium heat until browned.

  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  3. Add the water, salt, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, thyme, and sage to the skillet. Stir well to combine and simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the breadcrumbs until well incorporated.

  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  6. Line a pie dish with one of the pie crusts. Spoon the meat mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.

  7. Place the second pie crust on top of the meat mixture and crimp the edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

  8. Bake the Tourtière in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

  9. Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm.
