How To Make Sour Cream Apple Pie
Put a tasty twist to the classic apple pie with this recipe. The hint of sourness will be balanced by the sweetness of the apple and the cinnamon.
Ingredients
For The Crust
- 1¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup apple cider, cold
The Filling
- 8 Macintosh apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 â…” cup sour cream
- 1 cup sugar
- â…“ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp salt
For Toppings
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- â…“ cup firmly packed brown sugar
- â…“ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
- ½ cup butter
Instructions
For Crust

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Add and cut in the butter until the mixture becomes coarse.

Add the water carefully and mix until evenly moistened.

Gather into a ball and transfer it in a floured board. Start rolling into a 10-inch circle.

Place the dough into a pie plate and flute the edges. Set aside.
For Filling

Preheat oven to 450°F.
