Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a bowl, combine the strawberries, 1/2 cup of sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until well coated and set aside.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the chilled butter to the flour mixture and using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Slowly pour in the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until the dough comes together.
-
Transfer the strawberry mixture into a baking dish. Use a spoon to drop spoonfuls of the dough evenly over the strawberries.
-
Bake for 45 minutes, or until the strawberries are bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
-
Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
