How To Make Apple Turnovers Recipe
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a medium saucepan, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter. Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry into a 12×12-inch square. Cut the square into 4 equal squares.
-
Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold one corner of the square over the filling to create a triangle shape. Press the edges together with a fork to seal.
-
Transfer the turnovers to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the turnovers are golden brown and puffed.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
