Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions
-
In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture comes to a boil.
-
Continue to cook, without stirring, until the mixture turns a deep amber color, about 5-7 minutes.
-
Remove the saucepan from heat and slowly whisk in the heavy cream. Be careful as the mixture will bubble up.
-
Return the saucepan to low heat and whisk in the butter until melted and smooth.
-
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
-
Allow the caramel frosting to cool slightly before spreading it onto your desired dessert.
