How To Make Grandma’s Old Fashioned Tea Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter, softened
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.

  7. Use a cookie cutter to cut out desired shapes and place them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Allow the tea cakes to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
