How To Make Swedish Cardamom Bread
A soft and flavorful bread with a hint of cardamom spice.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- 1 tbsp of active dry yeast
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter, melted
- 2 tsp of ground cardamom
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 egg
- 4 cups of flour
Instructions

In a bowl, mix the water and yeast, let sit for 5 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, cardamom, salt, and egg.

Add the yeast mixture and stir to combine.

Add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until the dough forms a ball.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let rise for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Punch down the dough and form into a long loaf.

Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise for 30 more minutes.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let cool on a wire rack.
