How To Make Homemade Italian Red Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (200g) tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves, chopped
Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the onion and garlic, sauté until they are soft and lightly golden.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste.

Add the dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil and parsley.

Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving.
