How To Make Indian Tofu Chana Masala Recipe

A protein-rich vegan dish made with tofu and chickpeas cooked in flavorful spices.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, diced
  • 1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.

  2. Add onions, garlic, and ginger. Saute until onions are translucent.

  3. Add tomatoes, salt, and all the spices. Saute for a couple of minutes until tomatoes are soft and mushy.

  4. Add a splash of water and mix well.

  5. Add tofu and chickpeas. Mix gently and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
