How To Make Dutch Split Pea Soup Recipe
A hearty soup made with split peas, vegetables, and smoked sausage.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb split peas
- 6 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Crusty bread for serving
Instructions

Rinse the split peas and add them to a large pot with water.

Add chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic.

Bring the pot to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.

Add sliced smoked sausage and bay leaf to the pot.

Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until peas are tender.

Remove bay leaf and puree soup until smooth.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
