Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup barbecue pork, diced
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, oil, and salt. Gradually add in the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
-
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
-
Flatten each dough ball with your palm, then use a rolling pin to roll it out into a circle about 4 inches in diameter.
-
Place a spoonful of diced barbecue pork in the center of each circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.
-
Place the buns on steamer liners or parchment paper and steam them over high heat for 15 minutes until cooked through.
-
Serve the steamed barbecue pork buns hot and enjoy!
