  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup barbecue pork, diced

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, oil, and salt. Gradually add in the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.

  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.

  6. Flatten each dough ball with your palm, then use a rolling pin to roll it out into a circle about 4 inches in diameter.

  7. Place a spoonful of diced barbecue pork in the center of each circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.

  8. Place the buns on steamer liners or parchment paper and steam them over high heat for 15 minutes until cooked through.

  9. Serve the steamed barbecue pork buns hot and enjoy!
