African Millet Porridge Recipe

How To Make African Millet Porridge

A warm and comforting porridge made with millet and spices, perfect for a hearty breakfast or snack.

Cooking: 40 minutes
Total: 50 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup millet
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cardamom pods, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse millet and put into a pot with water.

  2. Add cinnamon stick, cardamom, ginger powder and salt.

  3. Bring to boil then lower heat, cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes or until millet is cooked.

  4. Remove cinnamon stick and cardamom pods then stir in honey and milk.

  5. Serve hot, garnished with your choice of nuts or fresh fruit.
