How To Make Arnaud’s Bananas Foster Recipe

A classic New Orleans dessert featuring ripe bananas in a delicious butter, brown sugar, and rum sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and cut them in half lengthwise.

  2. Heat the butter over medium heat in a large skillet until it melts and starts to foam.

  3. Add the brown sugar and stir until it dissolves and forms a syrup.

  4. Add the bananas cut side down and spoon the syrup over them.

  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bananas are caramelized and soft.

  6. Carefully add the rum to the skillet and tilt it to catch fire from the burner (optional).

  7. Let the alcohol burn off and shake the skillet slightly until the flames die out.

  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve immediately with vanilla ice cream (optional).
