How To Make Beef Wellington Recipe

A classic French dish made of beef tenderloin wrapped in puff pastry, served with mushroom duxelle and a side of vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 cup mushroom duxelle
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. Season the beef tenderloin with salt and pepper.

  3. Sear the beef in a pan over high heat.

  4. Coat the beef with a thin layer of dijon mustard.

  5. Roll out the puff pastry and spread the mushroom duxelle on top.

  6. Place the seared beef on top of the mushroom duxelle.

  7. Wrap the puff pastry around the beef and seal with beaten egg.

  8. Brush the beaten egg over the top of the pastry.

  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the beef is cooked to your desired temperature.

  10. Let the beef rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
