How To Make Spicy Chicken Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of basmati rice
  • 1 lb boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice with cold water until the water runs clear. Set aside.

  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.

  3. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides.

  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.

  5. Add the rinsed basmati rice to the skillet and mix with the chicken and spices.

  6. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

  7. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

  8. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
