How To Make Home-style Chicken Curry

Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
  • For Rice:
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat oil and add chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.

  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn brown.

  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.

  5. Pour in the tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes.

  6. Add garam masala powder and simmer for another 10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.

  7. In a separate pot, rinse basmati rice and soak in water for 30 minutes. Drain the water.

  8. In a pan, bring water to a boil and add the soaked rice. Cook until the rice is 80% cooked. Drain the water.

  9. Serve the home-style chicken curry with fragrant rice and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
