How To Make Red Onion, Gruyère & Rosemary Fougasse

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup sliced red onions
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Gradually add in the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Punch down the dough and transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Use your fingers to stretch the dough into a large rectangle.

Scatter the red onions, Gruyère cheese, and rosemary over the dough, pressing them lightly into the surface.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the fougasse is golden brown and crisp.

Allow the fougasse to cool for a few minutes before serving.
