Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 40 minutes
Total: 55 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside to cool.

  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  4. Add the cooled caramelized onions to the flour mixture and stir to combine.

  5. Gradually add the milk, water, and olive oil to the mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.

  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes until smooth.

  7. Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf, about 1 inch thick. Place it on the prepared baking sheet.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm.
