Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Cooking spray or extra flour for dusting
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
-
Add the warm water and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
-
Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a loaf.
-
Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for another 1-2 hours or until it has risen above the edges of the pan.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
