Cooking: 12 minutes
Total: 27 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, diced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Stir until just combined.

  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.

  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick square or circle and cut out the biscuits using a round biscuit cutter or a glass.

  7. Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

  8. Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter.

  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.

  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
