Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 60 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cut into thick chips
  • Salt for seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  2. Shape the mixture into 4 equally sized burger patties.

  3. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat. Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each burger during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

  4. While the burgers are cooking, heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 325°F (165°C). Carefully add the potato chips and fry for about 5-6 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  5. Increase the heat of the oil to 375°F (190°C). Return the chips to the oil and fry for another 2-3 minutes, or until they are extra crispy and golden brown. Remove from the oil and season with salt.

  6. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on each bun, and add your desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, and condiments.

  8. Serve the burgers hot with a generous portion of the triple-cooked chips on the side.
