How To Make Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 large onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- dipping sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp horseradish sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
Instructions

Slice off the top of the onion and peel off the skin. Cut the onion into wedges, making sure not to cut through the root.

In a bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Dip the onion into the seasoned flour mixture, making sure to coat all the wedges evenly.

In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

Carefully place the coated onion into the hot oil, root-side down. Fry for about 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove the fried onion from the pot and let it drain on a paper towel.

In a separate bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika to make the dipping sauce.

Serve the blooming onion warm with the dipping sauce on the side.
