  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice.

  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are soft and the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes.

  3. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the strawberries to your desired consistency.

  4. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, until the syrup has thickened slightly.

  5. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

  6. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds.

  7. Transfer the syrup to a jar or container and let it cool completely before refrigerating.
