Ingredients

  • 6 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chopped apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes or until the apples are soft and tender.

  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for 5 minutes.

  4. Use a blender or immersion blender to puree the cooked apples until desired consistency.

  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  6. Allow the applesauce to cool completely before transferring to freezer-safe containers.

  7. Label the containers with the date and place in the freezer.

  8. To use, simply thaw the applesauce in the refrigerator overnight.
