How To Make Pinto Beans With Mexican-Style Seasonings

Ingredients
- 2 cups of dried pinto beans
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1 teaspoon of oregano
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 4 cups of water
Instructions

Rinse the pinto beans and remove any debris. Soak them in water overnight or use the quick soak method by bringing them to a boil for 2 minutes, then removing from heat and letting them sit for 1 hour.

In a large pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and jalapeño pepper until they are softened.

Add the soaked beans, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and water to the pot. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let simmer for about 2 hours or until the beans are tender, stirring occasionally.
