How To Make Sauerbraten Recipe
Tender and flavorful marinated beef roast, perfect for a hearty dinner.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 – 2 lbs beef roast
- 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp whole grain mustard
- 2 tbsp pickling spice
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions

In a large resealable bag, combine vinegar, beef broth, onion, brown sugar, mustard, pickling spice, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.

Add the beef roast and marinate in the fridge for 24-48 hours, turning occasionally.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry.

Heat vegetable oil in an oven-safe Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the beef on all sides.

Add the marinade to the Dutch oven and bring to a boil.

Cover the Dutch oven and bake in the preheated oven for 2-2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Remove from oven and let rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
