How To Make Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

A dessert made with layers of soft biscuits, whipped cream and fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp of baking powder
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of cold butter, cubed
  • 2/3 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 lb of fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp of powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.

  3. Add in butter and mix with a pastry blender or using your fingertips until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

  4. Add milk, egg and vanilla extract, stir until well combined.

  5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and pat it to form a 8 inch circle. Cut into 8 wedges.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool.

  7. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

  8. To assemble, split each biscuit in half, and place a layer of whipped cream and fresh strawberries on the bottom biscuit, top with the other half biscuit and repeat the layers until you reach the top biscuit.

  9. Serve immediately.
