Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tbsp milk
- Assorted candies for decorating
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
-
In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the molasses, milk, and vanilla extract.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
-
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the dough and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Add more milk if needed to achieve a drizzling consistency.
-
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and decorate with assorted candies.
-
Allow the glaze to set before serving.
