Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 0 minutes (requires refrigeration)
Total: 48 hours

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh salmon
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 bunch fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp crushed black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together salt, sugar, dill, and crushed black peppercorns.

  2. Place the salmon fillet in a shallow dish, skin-side down.

  3. Rub the salt, sugar, dill, and pepper mixture evenly over the entire salmon fillet.

  4. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap.

  5. Place a weight on top of the salmon, such as a plate or a heavy can.

  6. Refrigerate the salmon for 48 hours, flipping it halfway through. This will allow the flavors to infuse and the salmon to cure.

  7. After 48 hours, remove the gravadlax from the dish and scrape off any excess marinade.

  8. Slice the gravadlax thinly and serve on a platter.

  9. Garnish with additional fresh dill, if desired.

  10. Enjoy!
