How To Make Slow Cooker Gammon in Cola

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg gammon joint
  • 1 liter cola
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Place the gammon joint in the slow cooker.

  2. Pour the cola over the gammon, ensuring it is completely covered.

  3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, wholegrain mustard, brown sugar, and bay leaves to the slow cooker.

  4. Cook on low heat for 6 hours or until the gammon is tender and cooked through.

  5. Remove the gammon from the slow cooker and place on a baking tray.

  6. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan).

  7. In a small bowl, mix together some of the cooking liquid from the slow cooker with extra brown sugar to make a glaze.

  8. Brush the glaze over the gammon and roast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the glaze is sticky and caramelized.

  9. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for a few minutes before slicing.

  10. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
