How To Make Slow-cooked pork, cider & sage hotpot

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder, diced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the diced pork shoulder with salt and pepper.

  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the pork on all sides, then transfer to a slow cooker.

  3. In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened and translucent. Add flour and stir well.

  4. Gradually pour in the apple cider and chicken broth, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.

  5. Pour the cider mixture over the pork in the slow cooker. Add the chopped sage leaves and stir well to combine.

  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 6 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  7. Serve the slow-cooked pork hotpot with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
