How To Make Italian Sausage & Pasta Pot

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 8 oz pasta (such as penne or fusilli)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from pot and set aside.

  2. In the same pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and bell pepper until softened.

  3. Add the cooked sausage back into the pot. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.

  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  5. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well.

  6. Add the cooked pasta to the pot with the sausage mixture and toss until well combined.

  7. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
