- 2 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 apples, cored and quartered
- 2 onions, quartered
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.
-
Pour the apple cider over the turkey. Drizzle the melted butter all over the turkey.
-
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and black pepper. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the turkey, rubbing it into the skin.
-
Stuff the cavity of the turkey with the quartered apples, onions, and minced garlic.
-
Cover the turkey loosely with foil and roast in the preheated oven for 2 and a half hours.
-
Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C). Roast for an additional 30 minutes, or until the turkey is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh.
-
Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve with the pan juices.
