- 1 lb lamb stew meat, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, peeled and diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 cup pearl barley
- 8 cups beef broth
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper, to taste

In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the lamb and cook until browned on all sides.
