How To Make Oaty fish & prawn gratins

Ingredients

  • 2 cod fillets
  • 250g prawns
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 250ml milk
  • 80g rolled oats
  • 30g grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and lightly grease 4 individual oven-safe dishes.

  2. In a large frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.

  3. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring well to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.

  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce has thickened.

  5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.

  6. Cut the cod fillets into bite-sized chunks and add them to the sauce along with the prawns. Stir gently to coat the seafood.

  7. Divide the mixture evenly among the prepared oven-safe dishes.

  8. In a small bowl, combine the rolled oats and grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the seafood in the dishes.

  9. Place the dishes in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crispy and the seafood is cooked through.

  10. Serve the gratins hot with a side salad or crusty bread.
